My students come from very economically challenged homes. We are considered a 100% Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch and Title I school. We start each school day with mandatory breakfast so that EVERY child has an opportunity to eat a nutritious meal before the academic day begins. Each Friday many of our students go home with a backpack full of food from our local food bank. 85% of my students come from non-English speaking homes. Many of the students have never been exposed to academics or a school setting. These young children are like sponges and absorb every little detail of our school day. They are eager to learn and super excited when they reach goals that have been set.
