We are requesting place value coins to provide concrete learning of all math concepts. With the adoption of the new Common Core Standards students have had to learn what parents call "new" math. Students are now diving deeper into math concepts than ever before. Students learn best by following three steps: concrete model, pictorial model, and abstract.
These place value coins will help all level learners by providing a concrete model of place vales. We will be able to use the place value chips will be used for all concepts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and especially division. This concrete model will be the first step to success for all 160 of our Fourth grade students!
