Many middle school students go through this time in their lives without reading an entire book. I would like to center my human rights unit around reading the book "I Am Malala", this book was inspired by real-life events of a young woman near their age and her fight against terrorist for an education. But the large question is what are basic Human Rights we are entitled to because we are born into the Human race? I want to give my students the experience of reading this novel as a class in book circles and to challenge them to answer the question what are Basic Human Rights?
