I would like to be able to offer the students in my classroom a choice in how they sit to do their work. I feel that students can accomplish great things when they are not restricted in traditional desks and hard chairs for hours each day. When all they can feel is the discomfort of their sitting position, they are not motivated and not able to focus on the content and do their best work.
A student who is relaxed and comfortable is free to concentrate and access higher level thinking skills. Having flexible seating in our classroom would allow students to choose alternate seating that is more in line with their learning styles. I would like to offer them a low table and floor seating as one choice for small group work.
