I teach Math Enrichment to all students at my elementary school. Some of my students, however have unique needs and cannot utilize the manipulatives supplied by our math curriculum. My Special needs students deserve STEM activities that interest and challenge them while developing motor skills. The materials for this project are carefully chosen to be durable, enticing, and manageable, while being safe, non-choking hazards.
The magnets allow for easier construction and design work, while the Montessori toys develop fine motor through the use of tried and true manipulatives such as pegs and beads on strings. Students will be excited to challenge themselves with these engaging toys and this teacher is already inspired to create lessons that develop STEM skills for students with learning disabilities and physical challenges!
