My students are excited to discuss and learn about different cultures through reading non fiction and fiction books, and sharing writings with peers. They have a natural curiosity about the world in which they live, and would love to be able to learn as much as they could about their world. What a great way to learn about the world by taking the next step and actually interacting via technology with an actual classroom in another country! Making connections and gaining experiences that last a lifetime! Being able to write to someone in another country and have them answer your questions immediately via technology is priceless! We, as adults, know the importance of globalization, and I would love for my third graders to be able to experience this firsthand. Since ours is a rural small school district, there is not enough funding for my classroom to have 1:1 technology as found in larger school districts.
