Technology and video has become such an integral part the 21st Century classroom. My Ethnic Studies and US History classes are no exception to this. In my classes, we see our families' experiences as vital pieces of this nation's great history. My students bridge the gap between the historical context and their current experiences by looking into their families' experiences, via Oral Histories.
By donating to this project, you will help ensure that oral histories continue to serve as content resources for all of my students, as the interviews provide richer and fuller accounts of important historical events and experiences than many traditional sources. My students have challenged themselves a bit more than past generations and want to make their stories available to the public as historical resources. They will be creating an Oral History Website.
Students will be able to use the GoPro to document the interviews. It would work best since it's compact, easy to transport design still allows the use of various stands and tripods. The availability and use of the MacBook Pro in the classroom will offer the students a top-notch device with which to edit video interviews and allow for them to work on designing their website.
We hope to be able to get this project so the students can pay their education forward and provide valuable historical resources to students around the world.
