My students have very limited access to not only technology but also books of their own. Novel selection is important so that my students feel they can relate to the content and characters. It is important for me to limit their restrictions and provide them with the tools they need to learn.
By donating to this project, you will help to put books in the hands of students who might otherwise not have access to the magical worlds that reading can open up.
The iPad will be used by both teacher and students. It will help give students access to technology they can't afford to use on their own. They will use the iPad to create projects that connect to our SMARTboard so that they can present to the whole class. This will also allow me to track data easily and better assist my students and their needs.
Students have limited access to books in general, especially those that have characters from diverse backgrounds. The books I've chosen will be used for novel studies to expose students to multiple 5th grade standards while learning about characters from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
