These materials will make a difference in my students' learning and improve their school lives by providing them with opportunities for movement and structure that all students crave.
Several of my students are on the autism spectrum; needing frequent movement breaks and a highly structured day. They will benefit greatly from both the Time Timers and the Bouncy Bands.
The Time Timers will alleviate the anxiety many of my students feel around transitions. Being able to see the time passing on a visual clock is important for my students that struggle to understand the concept of time. The Time Timers can also serve as a visual prompt, reminding students that their time with a preferred activity is almost up. This helps my students feel more secure in the classroom as they can anticipate what is about to happen.
The Bouncy Bands will prove invaluable for those students of mine that are always on the go. Some students stomp or tap their feet when they become anxious, others just have a lot of energy to burn. The Bouncy Bands will allow students to move their feet without distracting other students with noisy stomping.
