Students come to our shop with varying levels of academic abilities, which as an educator, we are trained to help accommodate our lessons and lab activities to meet their needs and expectations. But often, due to financial limitations to purchase new equipment, we are limited to safely meet some of the physical needs of our students in our shop. Students can’t often fully enjoy their time in our shops due to frequently needing to take a break from standing or leaning on the sides of work spaces.
Students crave hands- on experiences in the shop- but they can’t enjoy those experiences if they aren’t comfortable. The purchase of these stools will provide safe, flexible seating options for our students to use in the welding shop and CNC Lab. The stools’ legs are adjustable, meeting the needs of a variety of students if needed. They are solid and durable which means they’ll stand up the demands and rough nature of a welding shop for many years to come.
In our class we discuss the importance of shop safety practices, including personal protective equipment, first aid, and how to safely operate about a dozen different hand and power tools. We also discuss the importance of using your most important tool - your body - in a safe and responsible manner. The purchase of these stools will allow them to rest on the stools while working or in between jobs in the shop.
Thank you in advance for your support of this project, which will have serious ramifications for our students in our shop areas.
