My students are young, energetic, and excited about learning everything. Kindergarten is a time where students are learning to enhance their language skills while also learning to communicate through drawing and writing. With the help of the resources listed in this project it is my goal that all students in my classroom become successful, curious writers. Each day my students participate in a curriculum block entitled Writer's Workshop; a combination of writing instruction that includes direct teaching, partner learning, small group instruction, conferencing, and independent writing. Materials such as the table top easel pad and the writing magic boards will help enhance small group instruction while the composition books and magnetic sentence strip holders will aid whole class instruction and independent practice. These materials will help make all of my Writer's Workshop lessons more comfortable, motivating, and engaging.
Writing in Kindergarten can look different depending on the development of the student; some students are learning to hold a pencil while others are writing words and sentences!
These writing resources will allow me to differentiate my Writer's Workshop lessons in order to help all my students become confident, risk taking writers and illustrators regardless of their prior writing experiences.
