This carpet will allow my students a place to sit in a classroom that is completely tile. During carpet time, students will have a cozy and warm place to sit instead of the cold hard tile. We spend a lot of time on the carpet during whole group teaching, and I always allow my students to chose whether to do their work at their tables or on the carpet. This carpet would allow them to have a more comfortable spot to complete independent work as well as participate in whole group teaching.
This particular carpet will also allow my students the opportunity to practice their number sense in a more hands-on way. We can use this carpet to practice counting while hopping from number to number as well as develop a more realistic view of how numbers can increase and decrease.
