Like stated above, we are moving into a new building. Though we have equipment we never thought we would have, we still need basics, especially for everyday usage.
Theatre is more than acting; it touches every content area taught and incorporates them into every art form to create an interactive learning experience like no other. One of the biggest ways to make this possible is by having scripts, books, and textbooks available in the classroom for the students to use for analysis, playwriting, scene work, and research. Our new black box theatre classroom was not equipped with this, so the black shelves will be extremely helpful and easy to hide when needed.
Other items (like the sanitizer, tissues, and pencils) are basic for any classroom. The odor eliminators are to help with our dressing room spaces while the duster is to keep our lighting and sound boards clean. Why the fancy pens? Many of my students have not had the privilege of writing with a nice pen. When they asked me about a pen I had in class and why I write with nice pens, I answered, "It makes me want to write more." I want to open that same level creativity in them, and you can be a part of that.
