My scholars live in a high poverty area, but this does not stop them from being the best they can be everyday. Each student is bright-eyed and eager to learn. The school is an older school, without many resources to bring to the classroom. I believe that the more books, the more the students are active in their own learning and the hands on activities in the classroom makes the students even more excited to come in everyday to see what is in store for them that day. When the students are having fun, they forget that they are learning.
I find that these are all important to bring to the classroom because for many of these students this will be the first time they are away from family, they will be facing new obstacles everyday, making new friends and finding their way to become independent.
