Studies have shown tremendous benefits to standing and moving while working, especially for students who struggle with attention. This project would add so much to our classroom environment, plus it is kid-inspired. They want to be able to wiggle and wobble. They loved our borrowed Wobble chairs and the ability to sit or stand around the room last year, so I know they would be more than thrilled with any flexible seating options we can have this year.
Flexible seating in fifth grade would help them be better engaged in lessons and provide them with opportunity for more movement and activity.
Classroom furniture is one of the hardest things to get funding for, so this would mean the world to our classroom. My students would be so excited! With limited recess and physical education, I know as a teacher I need to find ways to help my students be even more active.
