My students live in a rural area and most live below the poverty line. Learning progresses slowly with pencil and paper skills, but when I incorporate hands-on experiences and shared learning projects, light bulbs really go on! They are bright, inquisitive children, who are eager to learn, but have had limited life experiences to build upon.
