Every grade level visits the Learning Commons at least once a week for Information Technology classes and book swaps. It is also a space where we support teacher learning with workshops and professional development. The Learning Commons is a bright and cheery place with two main areas, a large carpeted area for our primary book collection, and a teaching space with 8 tables that seat 6 each. Our space is very flexible and can accommodate a range of small group and large group activities. There is a large floor to ceiling bay window with tons of natural light, plants, and a view of a small memorial garden . Our PTF group purchased a large world map and a Maine map for our classroom area and we hope to add a US map as well. We are building a collection of natural artifacts and museum style displays to enhance our print collection. We relocated to our current location in 2016, prior to that it was a middle school.
