These materials will take my students to a higher level of performance. Using a variety of seating, including stability balls, surf desk, gaming chairs, a rug, and white clipboards, my students will be less stressed during classroom instruction and able to focus more on their learning targets. When my students enter the room each day, they won鈥檛 be anxious or distracted but rather engaged and excited. They will find comfort for all even those that need to stand or lounge to be at their best.
Flexible seating allows students to take ownership in their learning, encourages cooperation and helps foster a community within the classroom. This shifts the classroom from a sense of "mine" to "ours" and creates a communal environment. Research shows that flexible seating is a way to improve student engagement, increase participation, and motivate students.
