I am requesting books that represent social justice, gender identity, World Cultures and coming of age stories. The books that have been added to our wish list have been selected for multiple reasons. The books represent characters across a large range of backgrounds, identities, and status. I want to be intentional in allowing students a wide array of choices when it comes to reading about cultures around the World.
Students need the option to be able to connect and find meaning when they open a book, and by allowing them exceptional choices it expands their ability to improve their reading, understanding, and encourages a lifetime of reading and empathy for those around them.
