My children thrive on individual attention and one-on-one experiences. They love to be read to and read with. My students attend what is considered a "high poverty" Pre-K through 5 elementary school located in a rural area where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. The majority of my students lack exposure to early literacy experiences before entering school and many are considered to have literacy delays. Students in my classroom enter school with an intense desire to read but often struggle with reading because of insufficient language and literacy encounters.
