Students will be using an interactive, school based website, Schoology, to create, edit, and publish assignments and projects. As an ELA teacher, I will use Microsoft apps to write and edit papers. We write an array of papers including fictional, how to, personal narratives, and more; the laptops will allow the students the ability to complete the research necessary for the specific paper.
In this day and age, students need more than pen and paper to receive the most out of their learning experience. With a plethora of learners in my class, we need options to help them learn.
I am requesting a partial class set of laptop/tablet hybrids. With the ability to function as a laptop or tablet, students will have ample opportunities to use these in the classroom.
In the writing aspect of the classroom, students can use the laptops for revising and editing on the touch screen (ELL, Dyslexic, and Dysgraphic students will appreciate this), research topics for papers or assignments, integrate school based websites for information and interactive games (Kahoot, Schoology, Quizlet), and write and publish papers.
In the reading aspect of the classroom, students can use the laptops for gaining background knowledge on the novel read in class (currently reading "The Watsons Go To Birmingham), create interactive presentations of novels and short stories read, use cross curriculum information to understand and experience the novel on a real world level.
