Coming from a very low-income area, my students don't have the real-life exposure and opportunity that many other children have. The students at our school all qualify for free or reduced lunch, and many come from families where parents struggle to find jobs in this tough economy. Three quarters of our student population are English Language Learners. Despite these adversities, they all come to school with huge smiles on their faces, eager and with a passion to learn.
