My school has adopted a Readers and Writers Workshop program that consists of a focused lesson, independent work, and a sharing of ideas. I am asking for a Center Easel with a restickable pad, binders, Write-On Dividers, pocket folders and markers. These supplies will make the workshop environment possible. Binders and dividers will help students create reading journals if they cannot afford these supplies on their own. The easel makes for centralized learning during the focus lesson, and as a way to come together for our sharing of ideas at the conclusion of the lesson. Adhesive chart paper is easy to stick on the walls and move around as our learning grows. By displaying students' learning on chart paper throughout the room, we can track our progress together. Another important component to our workshop environment is having an audience to receive our ideas. Students who can share their ideas on chart paper will have an audience of their peers to view it.
I am so excited to be able to make my classroom a living, working studio--not just a room with desks.
