My mission, as their teacher, is to equip, teach, encourage, and motivate my students to have a successful future. What better way to do that than by putting a book in the hands of every child?
"The number of books a child finishes is the most significant statistic of all, it represents and predicts so much about his academic future." - Nancie Atwell
These materials already have a "home" in my classroom. I am asking for your help to get them through the door. Your generosity will help our classroom grow to new heights both academically and socially.
I am requesting Non-Fiction readers as well as Fiction readers to be able to enhance their vocabulary and to put that towards their reading fluency and understanding. My students will be able to use these book to read independently and grow at their own rate. These books will be used during Daily 5 rotations on a daily basis.
"I am convinced that if we show students how to embrace reading as a lifelong pursuit and not just a collection of skills for school performance, we will be doing what I believe we have been charged to do: create readers." - Donalyn Miller
My hope is to be able to build stronger communication through interactive learning games and activities such as "What's the Rhyme? Sorting Houses" and "Build-A-Word Houses". These activities will help my students visualize which card goes into what house as they place it in. On many of the houses, they have a word and picture on the back. For my students who are struggling, the houses with the picture instead of the word will help them understand the word when it is verbally said out loud. Thank you for you consideration in donating to my class.
