My students are active throughout the day. They do lots of hands-on activities to augment their learning. Most of my students are reading below grade level. I would like them to read at their grade level with fluency and understanding. During reading time my students work in literacy centers. They work independently as well as in small cooperative groups. During morning time our focus is reading and writing. My students do independent reading as well as partner reading. They work in literacy centers to develop fluency, reading comprehension, phonics and vocabulary skills.
We use dry erase boards to learn our sight words, new vocabulary words, for phonics lessons and also for interactive writing. I have a very busy class. My students are always willing to try new centers. I am continuously looking for creative center time ideas for my students to keep them involved in learning.
