Most of our students are socio-economically deprived, some are homeless, and face on a daily basis challenges that most students their age don't face. Many are already parents, and depend on the skills that they learn from a health science class to be gainfully employed upon graduation. Even though students are encouraged to pursue college, and are given opportunities for college-readiness through Dual Enrollment, Honors/AP classes, they still depend on the Industry Certification courses to get that great head start. Despite the challenges, I see the resilience and the determination in my students everyday to make a better life for themselves and their families. Some have persevered through great hardships to remain awake and alert to get the education they so greatly need.
