My school sits in a community surrounded by nice homes and successful businesses. No one would ever guess that 72.6% of our third graders are on the free and reduced lunch program. Many of these children live just north of our campus in a low income neighborhood. They struggle with social issues that go far beyond a classroom. Our school is a recipient of the MDCPS Bonds. They just installed Wi-Fi throughout the school to prepare for "Bring your Technology to School Program." A little ironic when most of these students don't have electronics. Therefore, as their teacher my goal is to level the playing field in our classroom. Everyone should have access to the same education!
