SLAPZI is a game that is accessible to all students. Since it is picture based and the topics are simple, it allows those who are still learning English to participate in the game. I will use these games to expose students to new vocabulary and problem solving.
Observing how students play SLAPZI will also allow me to see which students would be good candidates for gifted services. I will be observing how quickly students connect their available pictures/words to the current topic. I will also observe their thinking by the types of connections they make between pictures/words and topics. Once I have taught the game to all second grade classes, I will leave a copy of the game for students to play. Making the game available in the classroom allows the students the opportunity to further increase their vocabulary and creative thinking.
