As a result of the pandemic and virtual learning, the gap for my students has increased over the past two years and their basic knowledge foundation has decreased. I find I am teaching lower level skills to a larger number of students. As my students rotate throughout the day, there is also an increased need to keep materials separate and sanitary. The clocks and money will provide meaningful, creative, hands-on learning to help them learn to tell time, recognize and count money. The letters and magnetic boards will assist in teaching phonemic awareness by helping my students recognize and learn the letters and sounds they need as a foundation to reading. All of these resources will help make learning amid the pandemic more engaging and insure that my students have the foundational skills they need in order to learn the skills and strategies necessary to become successful learners. The containers will allow each child to have to tools they need while keeping them safer. The soft floor rocker and sensory items will help build social and emotional skills by offering soothing alternatives for students struggling to remain in class for a day. I am excited to offer kinesthetically motivating opportunities to build foundational skills and make my students’ learning joyful during this time of pandemic-impacted learning!
