Our school is relatively small -- about 375 students with wide diversity in all demographic categories. We are a Title I public school in Jacksonville, Florida. I am honored to be one of two 2nd grade ELA teachers in our school. Along with that honor comes the immense responsibility of ensuring that each student has what they need to succeed in my classrom. My classes consist of 20 high-energy 2nd graders in each rotation. Many of my students are working below grade level. We have some students who are in their first year of learning English as a second language. Many of my students are struggling to balance their school work with life outside of school. My students' excitement increases as their confidence grows. I feel that my students are an extension of my family.
