On an ideal day, my students would have time to spend using adaptive math practice during math groups. In the afternoon, they would have an opportunity to use Chromebooks for reading practice and then the option to type their writing instead of using traditional pencil and paper.
Chromebooks benefit my language learners in many more ways when just writing. They can easily see spelling mistakes and know they need help with a word. Editing becomes much simpler. If they are missing a word or their sentence is hard to understand, they can easily fix it without trying to squeeze it in the tiny space in a notebook. For my students who struggle to put their writing in a sensible order, it is extremely easy to cut and paste and move sentences.
Other benefits include access to a wider variety of literature and the ability to easily do research. Already my class uses Google Classroom as a way to keep up with assignments and share projects, Chromebooks will give us more opportunity to use these as well. My students will also need headphones with microphones for testing season. We need a lock so I can put the Chromebooks in a cupboard.
