I support students with special occupational therapy needs. I support students them in their development with tools and strategies so that they can not only learn, but thrive in a traditional school environment. The cornerstone of my lessons is a program called The Zones of Regulation by Leah Kuypers, which helps students manage and control their emotions, bodies and behavior. Students learn calming techniques and thinking strategies so they will have a toolbox of methods to help them stay in the zone that is best for learning and listening.聽We are in need of more books and games to help students learn how to manage their emotions in addition to more traditional occupational therapy tools such as sensory fidgets to help with attention, clay to help with fine motor skills, weighted lap pads and flexible seating. Flexible seating will help students to stay focused and comfortable as they are able to choose what works best for them as an individual student. Weighted lap pads are sensory tools that promote regulation, calming, and refocusing.
Your donation will help students develop the self-regulation skills that allow them to be in the best possible mind frame for learning.
