As a first year teacher, I am doing all that I can to make my classroom as effective and engaging as possible. Many of my students present severe sensory needs that must be accommodated. Noise canceling headphones provide a sense of relief and comfort. Additionally, my students are required to complete work on laptops but headphones are not provided. These headphones will help keep my students focused and engaged on their own personal lessons. The majority of my students are not strong readers and, therefore, find reading to be a punishment. This bookshelf will draw my students in and facilitate good reading habits! Lastly, my students feel a lack of control in many aspects of their life. By providing seating choices, these children can regain a sense of control.
Flexible seating options allow students to take control of their own learning.
The resources I have selected are going to make a huge impact in my classroom. We have been in school for over a month and the need for these materials is clear. I have borrowed similar items countless times from fellow teachers but my students deserve to have access to these supplies every day!
