We are in a rural, high-poverty school in South Carolina. My students are predominantly challenged by traditional teaching approaches, and historically perform poorly on traditional assessments (including those for NCLB), but they are smart, creative, and perform for me when they often won't for other teachers. They challenge me as much as I challenge them, and we learn constantly from one another.
