I teach in a rural school in Charleston County South Carolina. Our school is a Title I school. It has a population of students of which 100% are on free or reduced lunch. In our school we have one class per grade level for grades Pre-K (four-year-old) through sixth grade. I teach the Pre-K class. I am the students first teacher at our school and I want to give them hands-on, meaningful experiences to enhance their excitement for learning and for school. In my classroom I love to share my passions for the environment, reading and gardening with my students. We have our own vegetable and butterfly garden that we maintain all year long. I also love to take field trips to places most of my students have never been especially the theater. I can then incorporate their hands on learning with their literature, mathematics, social development, and science inside and outside of the classroom.
