As the month of February approaches and we think of love and friendship we thought what better book than Wonder. A novel about showing kindness to others and being accepting of our peers just the way they are. We are all special in our own kind of way. This project was inspired by the world wide capturekindness project.
We are beginning our own bekind project in our classroom that will help reinforce classroom community. The novel set will help students follow along while they practice reading skills during read alouds such as but not limited to: word skills, fluency, inferencing, and comprehension. While practicing all these skills they will also be discovering the underlying theme of KINDNESS! I am excited to read the book as we will be culminating by asking parents to take them to watch the movie and comparing and contrasting how the book and movie are alike and different. I would love to give my students an opportunity to fully engage with the book by having their own copy while in my class.
