These books will enhance the print-rich classroom that the newcomer support classroom provides. In the classroom library, students will enjoy reading books about a variety of topics in both English and Spanish. Newcomers will also learn how to care for and respect the books located in our classroom library. All of these books have been chosen with my newcomers in mind. Books that highlight their home country will allow them to show pride and share with their peers about where they come from. The bilingual books will allow the students to read independently in their native language while also learning English in the progress. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help our newcomers to grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
