My students come from all over the globe. They come from places like Iran and Cuba; Honduras and Mexico and the Dominican Republic; Afghanistan and Pakistan and India and China; Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. People joke that our school's population looks like the United Nations, but they're not wrong.
Some students have arrived within the past few months; others have been here all of their lives. All of them are Language Learners, united on their common path of learning English. They are in various levels of English Language Development classes: some are brand new and are learning the English alphabet; others are much more advanced and are working on improving their overall literacy and content knowledge. All of them are expected to adapt and perform alongside their mainstream peers. All of them dream of success.
