I plan to use these resources to facilitate literature circle style of discussion. In this type of approach I am able to support students more so than in free-range selection (a.k.a going to the library) but still provide them with options.
When students are given the option to pick their book, they naturally have a more vested interest in reading it. While as an English teacher I always seek to help students understand the nuts & bolts of English Language Arts, what I really hope for is that students will find a love for reading! Literature circles provide that opportunity!
