In my classroom I have a wide range of reading abilities, from students reading on a kindergarten level, all the way up to the end of a second grade reading level. Everyday I pull my small guided reading groups, giving explicit reading instruction at their instructional reading levels while using guided leveled readers. Every week, my students take turns selecting 5 new reading books to take home to help them in reading 20-30 minutes every night.
The range of leveled books will not only allow my students more variety of books to choose from every week but to also help them progress closer to the second grade reading level.
