My goal as a teacher is to try my best in lessening any financial burden among my students so they could leverage their class time and unique self to dive into thinking and doing science in our classroom (the 鈥渟acred science space鈥 as we called it).
This grant will provide my students with essential learning tools and a safe space in the classroom are crucial in my students鈥 lives to stay focused and motivated in exploring science. Students will learn their organization and independence skills through the use of ring binders to store their classwork and culminating projects' (Project Based Learning) crafts and ideas. Colored printer and colored papers play their roles as each student will have their own colorful science interactive notebook and each group of students will have the opportunity to print out their project design for both self and peer assessments later on. Similarly, colored pencils and markers are vital to add that Arts element in the Science classroom, via posters making, driving question board, anchor charts, etc. Studies showed that colors could help students to strengthen their long-term memory and color-coding acts as effective reading and writing strategies. Most importantly, a great wireless speaker allows us to set the tone and environment for different types of students learning and daily routines, for example in our daily meditation, group collaboration time, room transformation, transition period, etc.
Lastly, by establishing a mini STEAM corner in the classroom starting with the invention kit, I hope to connect students鈥 knowledge to various real world applications and continuously spark their interests and creativity in thinking like a scientist. Students could also utilize this space for them to calm down their thoughts and challenge their creativity.
We thank you in advanced for your kindness and generosity to help make a difference!
