Students love having choice and ownership in their learning, and being able to provide options for texts we use in class makes a world of difference. These books will be used for literature circles during our dystopia unit.
With these novels, my students will explore our own world through narratives that take problems to the extreme, something that they get so passionate about, especially since the pandemic. It helps them find causes they are passionate about and willing to take a stand for. It also allows them to see the world through a new perspective and generate lively discussions about what they want the world to be going forward and ways to achieve that.
