I feel so fortunate to teach the students I do. Roughly 10-15% of each of my students are English Learners. Many of these students even have parents who live half way around the world in China, Vietnam, Japan and Korea. I take special pride in teaching these students, for the History curriculum allows me to incorporate many of my students' cultural knowledge into my lesson plans. In doing this, I aim to make the curriculum highly relevant and engaging for all of my students. My classroom is filled with students each day who all come from different backgrounds. I work to promote a classroom culture where student differences are embraced and they learn not just tolerate each other, but respect and understand their classmates. With the growing level of technology, our world is shrinking. Communication among people across countries is now the norm and a worldly perspective is of the utmost importance.
