Each day, students are exposed to presentations in the math classroom. The visual aspect, especially in a subject like math, greatly benefits the differently abled learners in my co-taught class. My classroom has only one whiteboard at the front of the room, so all 30 of my students must use this during the delivery of the lesson. My students have varied learning abilities, and the addition of a projector and screen to my classroom would allow me to work with smaller groups of students while still delivering high quality instruction and exposing them to engaging presentations, videos, and images that will help them better understand the content. Many of my students enter the classroom at least one grade-level behind. My co-teacher and are working to bridge this gap.
The projector and screen would be used to show students videos, accompany math problems with images and graphics, and facilitate interactive learning. With the aid of a projector and projector screen, I will be able to work with my students in small and alternative groupings AND get to use technology to expose them to the same resources as their peers. This project will help enrich my student's experience in the math classroom and better prepare them for high school and college level math.
