My students are a joy to be around. The student that I teach have such diverse needs and I can truly say that not one of them is like the other. They are in a kindergarten and 1st grade autism classroom. Many of my student have communication delays, which requires visuals and alternative mode of communicating. They also tend to have delays in the area of social skills as well. My primary goal is giving them a mean of communicating with like peers, which needs to be directly taught on how to communicate to others. Along with those needs self regulation tends to be a struggle and that's where I incorporate more hands on and sensory activities. Above all my kids just want to feel like any other student, they just need a little more push and help facilitating. They are so bright and want to advocate for their own needs rather than someone else doing it for them. You'd love them all, and with your support they thrive.
