Review, redo, and reflect. With these requested Samsung Galaxy tablets, students will have opportunities to explore their learning within and throughout all curricular lenses.
First graders love to live in the moment. Their quick and short attention spans help them to be present, be immersed, and fully engaged. With this eagerness, though, comes difficulty in remembering and reflecting upon their ideas. Tablets with video and audio capabilities will help my students to rewind their lives...literally.
In our writing workshop, students will use their tablets to record partner conversations to help them expand and build upon their writing at later times. During math practice, the kiddos will use the Galaxy tablets to chart, graph, and digitally illustrate their thinking. In reading, fluency practice can be live-action as they reflect and recognize their own oral practice and exercise as they watch and review audio recordings. Science experiments can be captured as we take pictures and recordings of our scientific measurements through our study of environmental sciences. Tablets will enable my students to think deeper and think wider - they can explore with the five senses around them, while also thinking more introspectively about their own learning, initiatives, and responsibilities.
