My students 10th, 11th, and 12th graders living in a low-income, high-crime inner city. The school I teach at is a zone school, which means it is a neighborhood school in the city.
My students are energetic, smart, and want to learn. When asking my 70+ students who wants to go to college, about 80 percent say they hope to as soon as they graduate. Many of these students, however, have not even passed the MD High School Assessment tests.
