In my first-grade classroom, I have 25 kiddos that are moving and grooving. We all love to learn. We have found that we do this so much better when we do it our way. That means out of the box thinking! That means out of the box doing! We have about six different reading levels in the room. We have about the same in math. We are working toward creating a room that has zero desks. We want to build narrow tables that go around the perimeter of our room. We want kidney tables in the center where we will set together and do our work. We want to be able to get up and go to the print center and make our own extra work and go to a center station on the wall and practice skills we have already learned. This is a lot, we know, but just like a good puzzle, piece by piece we are getting there. We will top it off with a tablet for every single student in the room!
