Our gifted program is housed in an elementary school, so we don't have easy access to more advanced engaging science equipment, but my students have inquiring minds! I'd love to let them explore science using hands-on investigations more often, and include more hands-on math activities, but need the materials to do so.
Here are some of the ways that this equipment can make science and math more FUN AND more REAL. Stopwatches and carriages will allow us to do labs about speed and acceleration. A soil pH and moisture meter will help us to learn more about what to plant in our school's habitat. Lab aprons will make cow eye and pig heart dissection activities safer. Digital thermometers will make our phase change labs go more smoothly since we'll get more accurate results. The spectroscopes will help the students learn more about the electromagnetic spectrum and astronomy. And, the math involved in analyzing the data we collect will help the students see how the math we are learning is important.
Thanks so much for considering a donation to my project!
