Who remembers the excitement you felt the first time you were able to focus your microscope, and that teeny-tiny object on the slide zoomed into focus? The amazing possibilities of entire new worlds opened up to you! Who remembers the frustration of twiddling the dial back and forth, back and forth, hoping for clarity; moving the slide forwards and backwards, half convinced that there wasn't actually anything on it, since nothing would ever come into focus! Sadly, that second experience is much more common.
iPad microscopes will allow my students to easily zoom in, up to 200 percent magnification! Students will be able to capture video or photo images of the object they are studying, as well as taking accurate measurements. No more lugging giant, clunky, inefficient microscopes around. No more searching endlessly for the object your teacher swears is there!
